Downtown Los Angeles Area Lunch Meeting at FIDM
Librarians, infopros, library support staff and students gathered to have lunch and network with colleagues from various library environments such as corporate, law, medical and special academic in the downtown Los Angeles area. Our host, Robin Dodge, Special Collections Librarian and future SLA-SCC President-Elect, gave a tour of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising library.

SLA-SCC Alhambra Area Lunch Meeting

SLA-SCC Century City Area Power Lunch
A great big "thank you" to William Holmes, Library Public Services Manager at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips and Library Associates for hosting the SLA-SCC Century City area lunch meeting on Thursday, April 9th. William went above and beyond the call of duty as a host when he gave a 30-minute presentation about his duties and responsibilities as a law librarian. He also gave us a tour of Manatt's beautiful and spacious law library. It was a successful and productive power lunch!

Fullerton Area Lunch Meeting at Beckman Coulter
Jill Foreman hosted the SLA-SCC's Fullerton area networking lunch meeting at Beckman Coulter. After lunch, Pat Ashton gave us an interesting and informative tour of the Heritage Center. Nineteen (19) librarians, information professionals and MLIS students attended the event. Thank you all for participating in this event!

Fullerton Area Lunch Meeting, February 23rd at Noon
You are invited to a networking luncheon and tour of the Beckman Coulter

library support staff who are currently employed, unemployed or retired and
library school students are all welcome to come.
Arnold O. Beckman, founder of Beckman Instruments was considered one of the top
five inventors of scientific instruments. Elected into the National Inventors
Hall of Fame in 1987, Dr. Beckman created devices that revolutionized the study
and understanding of human biology. The Heritage Exhibit is a unique showcase
of Beckman Coulter's contributions to industry, science and medicine spanning
nearly a century, of outstanding scientific achievements. It features a unique
collection of history-making analytical instruments and other products that
highlight Beckman Coulter's innovative advancements in science and medicine.
From electrodes to analyzers, from counters to chromatographs, experience the
treasures of science that have served mankind in countless ways since the

Long Beach Area Lunch Meeting at Claire's Cafe
Claire's Cafe at the Long Beach Museum of Art was a beautiful venue for an area lunch meeting. Seventeen (17) librarians, information professionals and library school students took some time off to enjoy the warm and sunny weather and breathtaking oceanfront view from the patio to have lunch and network!

Enjoy a delicious meal and a nice, warm, relaxing atmosphere where you can network with other librarians and information professionals in the area. As an added bonus, you can visit the museum for FREE! The current exhibit is about California, Seen: Landscapes of a Changing California, 1930-1970.

At the traffic light at Ocean Blvd, turn right. Go East on Ocean Blvd. approximately 2-3 miles. Once you pass Junipero, the Museum Parking Lot on your immediate right. The Museum is approximately 100 yards further East on Ocean Blvd. From the South - Take 405 North to the Seventh St. exit. Drive West on 7th Street to Junipero St., approximately 6 miles. Turn left on Junipero. Drive 6 blocks to Ocean Blvd, turn left on Ocean. Museum parking lot will be on immediate right. From Orange County via Pacific Coast Hwy - Take PCH north to Second Street, turn left on Second Street. Drive West through Naples Island and Belmont Shore. Left on Livingston/Ocean intersection. Continue on Ocean Blvd. The Museum parking lot is just past the Museum on the left. Public Transportation - Passport buses A and D stop directly in front of the Museum between Junipero St. and Kennebec Ave.
Parking: Free parking is available in the Museum parking lot on Ocean Blvd., one block west of the main entrance. Metered parking is available on the beach. To park on the beach, turn off of Ocean Blvd. at Junipero and follow the road to the parking lot. There are stairs to the Museum from this area.
