Congratulations Holly Fisher!

Please congratulate Holly Fisher, recipient of a 2009 Special Libraries Association Scholarship.

The SLA Scholarship is awarded for those in a graduate study program in librarianship leading to a master's degree at a recognized school of library or information science. Preference is given to those who have worked in and for special libraries, and those who display an aptitude for and interest in special library work.. The official announcement and the award presentation will be made at SLA's Centennial Conference, in Washington, D.C., in June.

Again, offer your congratulations to Holly, and continue to apply for those scholarships!

Long Beach Area Lunch Meeting January 30th at Noon

As a Special Librarian of the Southern California Chapter of SLA, you deserve oceanfront dining at Claire's Café at the Long Beach Museum of Art

Enjoy a delicious meal and a nice, warm, relaxing atmosphere where you can network with other librarians and information professionals in the area. As an added bonus, you can visit the museum for FREE! The current exhibit is about California, Seen: Landscapes of a Changing California, 1930-1970.

Directions: From the North - Take 405 South to 710 South. Stay in the left lanes, following the signs for the Aquarium of the Pacific. The 710 will end and become Shoreline Drive, no stops or turns are necessary. Continue east on Shoreline Drive, going past the Aquarium and the Convention Center. At the traffic light at Ocean Blvd, turn right. Go East on Ocean Blvd. approximately 2-3 miles. Once you pass Junipero, the Museum Parking Lot on your immediate right. The Museum is approximately 100 yards further East on Ocean Blvd. From the South - Take 405 North to the Seventh St. exit. Drive West on 7th Street to Junipero St., approximately 6 miles. Turn left on Junipero. Drive 6 blocks to Ocean Blvd, turn left on Ocean. Museum parking lot will be on immediate right. From Orange County via Pacific Coast Hwy - Take PCH north to Second Street, turn left on Second Street. Drive West through Naples Island and Belmont Shore. Left on Livingston/Ocean intersection. Continue on Ocean Blvd. The Museum parking lot is just past the Museum on the left. Public Transportation - Passport buses A and D stop directly in front of the Museum between Junipero St. and Kennebec Ave.

Parking: Free parking is available in the Museum parking lot on Ocean Blvd., one block west of the main entrance. Metered parking is available on the beach. To park on the beach, turn off of Ocean Blvd. at Junipero and follow the road to the parking lot. There are stairs to the Museum from this area.
